The christmas days won’t be long in coming but here in berlin the snow is a long time coming. But one way or another this is the time to stay at home with your family and friends, have a nice dinner and watching movies together. For this cold and dark season I’ve got the right movie for you. A horror classic. Stanley Kubrick’s “Shining”. I love this film. I am not a fan of horror films particularly those from today but the novel from Stephen King implemented by Stanley Kubrick will blow your fucking mind.
Watch it, if you haven’t already done so.
Plot: A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where an evil and spiritual presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future.

Inspirated by Zako Heskija’s tragedy “Yo ho ho” (1981), Tarsem Singh shows us a unbeliveble epic story with strong and powerful images, elaborate dialogues and gorgeous locations. The opening title (see the video below) is accompany with music by the legendary seventh symphony of Beethoven. I think this is a film which you have to see twice or more to understand the messages and enjoy the images. I recommend the movie to the ones of you, who are interested in epic story about a group of different heroes, a story about revenge, about love. Enjoy.
Plot: In a hospital on the outskirts of 1920s Los Angeles, an injured stuntman begins to tell a fellow patient, a little girl with a broken arm, a fantastical story about 5 mythical heroes. Thanks to his fractured state of mind and her vivid imagination, the line between fiction and reality starts to blur as the tale advances.

Cidade de Deus
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The story is set in the 1970s in Rio de Janerio’s poor district Cidade de Deus, governed by poverty and violence. Orientated by the novel “City of God” (1997) from Paulo Lins who raised up in the city. After 5 years, Fernando Meirelles stages this novel into one of the best brazilian film. The soundtrack, the images, the actors and the serious question is very well implemented. I can recommend this great movie to all of you if you are interested in the hard life in the city of god.

Mathematic is the language of nature.
With a mix of breakcore and drum’n’base introduce you the title sequence into the first feature film from Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The Wrestler). The Film is shown in black&white and seems to be an underground hit. The director wanted to make a movie about god, math and badass jews. I am sure that this move inspirited films like Enter the Void. Another topics of this psychological thriller are drugs and psychology. The Film is about Max, a genius mathematician, who tries to decipher the numeric system till the whole world came crashing down around his ears. This film is stunning.
